Hey guys,
Just purchased an 04 CC Frontier. I think it's going to be a great truck. Here is my problem. Hope someone more familiar with stereos than me can give me some guidance. It has an aftermarket Pioneer head unit and an alpine CD changer installed under the drivers seat. I think the Pioneer cq-c5310u is rated at 50x4. The CD changer does not seem to be hardwired to the head unit because it plays on a radio station. It has speakers in each door and tweaters in the pillars. Problem is it is not very loud and has way to much distortion. I don't need something that shakes the windows but this thing is really wimpy. When I play a CD through the changer the volume is even lower. Not sure whether I have OE speakers but they bottom out very easily and have way to much distortion. I was previously driving a GM car with the OE Bose system. People complained about the sorry stereo in that car. It sounded 1000x better than this one. Any ideas on what I should change first? I want speakers that will handle more bass and a little more volume. Is there a sub that will fit under the passenger seat or are there drivers that can be placed in the OE locations? I'm not interested in adding a box to the back seat compartment. Do I need an amp? I'm not going to spend a fortune but wouldn't mind throwing several hundred towards a good system. Might even add XM since I bought the truck for my commute. Thanks for any help you can give.
