I just purchased a new '07 Murano SL. I would like to replace the stock wheels with something wider, using a lower profile tire that is the same diameter as stock.
Does anyone have any experience doing this? I want to maintain speedometer accuracy and not cause any interference problems.
Suggestion? Gotchas?
Thanks
Tom

If it is an all wheel drive model and you drive in snow I would not reccommend going wider. The wider the tire the less traction in snow.

Yes, it is all-wheel drive. However, we don't get but about 2" of snow all winter here in SE Washington State. It's pretty much a desert here. I don't want to go radical on size and width. I prefer to stay with 18" wheels, but go from 7.5" width to 9" or 10". I also want to stay with the same overall diameter of tire.
Thanks for your input.

I plan on buying custom wheels & tires. My research has shown we can go to an 8 1/2" wide wheel w/about a 45 offset. Tires would have to be 255-55/18 in order to maintain the accurate speed. Many choices.
