2000 Altima electrical issue on start up
Have a 2000 Altima. purchased new battery 14 months ago because old one was bad (original). Have had an issue with the battery going dead 2 times since then. It simply went dead over a period of time and you could tell from the way it had a sluggish roll when started. Seems that something was drawing on it after it was off, possible short.
The other day everything came on when I turned the key but no ignition, no starter. Put a 55 amp jump start on it and it fired right up. Turned it off and it started right up again. Drove it for an hour turned it off and it strted right up again. Next morning same issue as before, no start. Jump it and fires up. Removed the battery and put it on 2 amp charge overnight. Same issue, no start. Jump it and fires up. Turn it off and restart fired right up. 3 hours later same issue. no start. Then I held the key for approx. 10 seconds and the starter engages. starts right up. Now if I hold the key in ignition for same time it starts. What should I look for? |
