Default Excess Oil Consumption, Now P0301 Code, 2005, 3.5lt.

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima, 3.5lt., model SE. A month ago, I changed my oil & filter. Checked oil 2 wks. ago and I was 2 1/2 qts. low! I've had this car since new, it never burned any oil. I am now at about 81,000 miles. Topped off the oil reminding myself to keep an eye on it.

Two weeks after that I have now twice experienced a miss, checked the OBD, got a P0301 - Misfire, Cylinder 1. From my research I was going to start with looking for a vacuum leak or something.

But, now I am wondering if it has something to do with the oil consumption as well? I think I read some time ago that catalytic convertors can use oil? Should I check my Oxygen Sensor?

I should also mention that I have a paver driveway, park the car on it everyday, and there is not one drop of oil on it - so I know the oil is not leaking.

Not sure where to start with this mess - can anyone offer help or experience on things I should look at or do? Thanks in advance!
