Default 09 altima no start

hi. have read the posts on this and have questions. I've tried 2 used parts with no results. can get dash to light -won't crank. battery in fob is good. brake lights work-can switch still be the culprit? going to try workaround or 2 again to see if I can bypass steering column switch. if I get a different controller to work, do I need the key reprogrammed? mike

If you have a CVT transmission, there is a technical service bulletin on this instructing to install a new brake lamp switch and subharness with the parts listed in the bulletin. The bulletin # is NTB10-139 and is located in our "knowledge base":

Default smj999smj re: tech bulletin

read tech bulletin. is this repair, parts or labor covered by Nissan? btw--spoke with local Nissan service mgr . he told me the recall on the escl is good. the replacement part doesn't lock(fine with me as long as it starts) i'll need to get mine towed to dealership to replace. he gave me consumer affairs number to see if they will cover tow(1-800-nissan1) said a customer recently had this problem but he forgot to ask if he or Nissan paid the tow. i'll post they're reply

consumer affairs said I pay for tow, but if escl proves to be the problem, Nissan will pay the tow.

Check your Auto Insurance Policy or talk to your insurance agent. You may have Towing Coverage.

If you installed a used part the keys will need to be reprogrammed.

thanks for the replies. if the escl free replacement would have solved my problem, Nissan would've payed the tow. my starter proved to be bad. car ready and waiting for me to pick up. thanks for everyone's help. mike

did they replace it though?
Glad you got it up and running.
Starters are not too common on these in my opinion
