Default Front power windows

Hi, I have a 2005 Altima S the driver and passenger windows keep going down on their own without me touching any of the key fob buttons...kept doing it so much that the interior was getting a lot of snow in it so I went out and disconnected the negative battery lug. I had already separated the 2 parts of the fob so the fob battery wouldn't make contact in case the fob was broadcasting and making the windows deploy; it made no difference which is why I disconnected the car battery lug. My question is: can the front windows going down simultaneously be disabled by other means than disconnecting the battery? What is the purpose for this function anyway?

I've read that this can be caused by the switch on the drivers door lock cylinder. Don't remember if they said corrosion or shorting etc. but it could be worth checking.
If that is the problem, maybe just disconnecting the switch could solve it.

As far as the reason for the function, it allows a person to roll down the windows on a hot day and let the heat out before they enter the vehicle. I never cared for it, personally.

Have you tried taking your car to the dealer?
