2002 Altima No Vent control
Hi
I have a four cylinder 2002 2.5 Altima that I bought recently. I have no control of where it blows air through the vents. It stays in half floor half defrost. Should I replace the control panel or is there a motor somewhere that should be replaced. The control panel has a couple issues with it in that the LED lights for AC and Recycle no longer work. System will engage AC if I turn temperature to cold but I don't know if the AC button works. |

Actually, there are three things that could be failing: the mode door, the mode door motor (actuator) or the control unit.
You could try removing the motor and check if is moving when you change the setting. If is moving then, the problem is the mode door. If is not moving, but the display is changing, then the problem is the motor. You can access the motor from the driver side:

Thanks, I will check the motor to start. Is there a repair instructio if it is the mode door that is not working?
