Default CVT question

I bought my car used and it already had 35000 miles on it. I never owned a car with a CVT before and had no idea you are supposed to get the fluid changed at 60000 miles. Now I have 81000 and when I called my local dealer to ask about it the recommend against changing it at this point. Does that sound right? I figured better late than never but the impression I got from the dealer was the opposite. The service manager said it can actually cause problems since I don't know if it's ever been changed. Opinions?

I think the service manager doesn't have a clue as to what he's talking about.
