another precat question 2003 2.5L - replacement
I have been reading everything on this issue for the last couple of weeks.
I have a 2003 2.5L with 68k. Reprogram ECU was done at 30k by the previous owner. I don't want to take the chance of a blown engine so I am going to replace the precat with an aftermarket one. I checked into many diff. manufacturers. Many to choose from: eastern, walker, dorman, bosch etc. Precat material for some are steel or stainless steel. * Has anyone replaced the precat? * What model? * How many miles on the replacement ? *Any issues? First step in the process of replacement is a compression test that I'm having done Tuesday and will post the results. Last edited by noeffort; 12-13-2015 at 09:21 PM. |

167k miles, don't buy the cheap cat from 1aauto as I had to replace it once in less than a year. Cats are supposed to last at least 10 yrs not less than a year.

Yeap, it's been good to me. It starts asking parts around 165k. Just replace the belt tensioner and now I have to see what the vibration sound is underneath. Usually it comes with vibration around 1.5k rpm. I guess is the exhaust shields.
