2014 Altima 2.5 liter r&r oil filter
The only way I can get to the oil filter is through the R wheel well splash guard. The plastic clips are difficult to remove and replace, taking too much time. Any suggestions to speed up the oil filter change? Did the Nissan engineers intend to force DIYers into the dealerships for oil changes? They may be changing my mind about owning this Altima.

Unfortunately that is the only way. From the top will be way to difficult.

For any front wheel drive and transverse mounted engines there's no way to reach the oil filter from the top unless my arms are 2x longer in which case I would not look normal. You don't have to remove the splash guard and the wheel. Just jack up the passenger side high enough to crawl head first to reach the oil filter. You have to go under anyway to remove the drain plug. So cheer up and have a cold one ready when you're done.
Every now and then I remove the wheel and splash guard when changing oil because I also want to do visual inspection. If you don't want the inconvenience and get dirty just take it to any fast lube places. I can tell you its more fun and satisfying you did it yourself and install the components that you like. |
