Default 2006 altima 2.5s idle cold start

My Altima engine recently began revving on starting. Cold starts might jump as high as 2500 rpms before dropping. Also had a roaring noise at higher speeds (I travel interstate to work every day) and had a rough idle when stopping at a traffic light. Took it to Nissan and they said I needed a new throttle body. Replaced that, but the condition still exists. Do I need to do an idle reset? We regularly use a fuel injector cleaner to help. Love this car and it has been great to us with 186,000+ miles and no real problems. JEB

Yes, should perform a Idle Air Volume Learning Procedure. Sometimes it doesn't work the first time and you may have to do it more than once.

Instructions here: 2002-2011 Nissan Altima Idle Air Volume Learning Procedure | Nissanhelp.com

Did you use a new factory throttle body?

If the problem persist, you may have a problem with the IPDM.

Red face 2006 altima 2.5s idle / cold start

Thanks so much for your help.... We had it done by a local mechanic. I assume he did not use a Nissan part as the cost of that part was 600% higher. The instructions you referred me to were confusing. #6 says to confirm accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds. #7 says to repeat that 5 times within 5 seconds. How do I wait 3 seconds and do it again four more times in the two seconds I have left? #7a says to release the accelerator pedal; when did I depress it? what is the MIL light and an IPDM? I apologize for all the questions but want to get this right and I am not up on the acronyms.

Yeah something is missing:
7(a) Fully depress and release gas pedal 5X within 5 seconds. The catch word is "within." Do not rush you have plenty of time.
7(b) Just be sure gas pedal is fully released
8. After 7 seconds, Fully Depress gas pedal and keep it down. The MIL will blink within 10-12 seconds mark. If you counted 15 and MIL hasn't blink Repeat procedures. good luck.
