Default Traction light came on

My 2012 altima with 40k on it showed the traction control light on and the brake light also came on momentarily then went out. 300 miles later on vacation to Cape Cod the car wouldn't start. I got a jump and went to Autozone for a new battery. Car ran fine till we got off the interstate exit 300 miles later and the traction control light [car figure with squiggly lines] came on again. A few miles later the brake light came on for a short time and went out. I'm guessing it was not a bad cell inthe battery kike I thought. I put a meter on it at Autozone and it was charging at 14 volts. Got in the driveway . turned it off and restarted it with no lights on. Any one have a problem like this?

If the brake fluid level is down due to brake pad wear the brake and traction control lights will come on. Topping off the fluid should take care of both lights if that is the problem. You should also check the brake pads to see if they need to be replaced.
