Default 05 Rack and pinion removal 3.5

Hi, My rack is leaking from the driver side bad!!!

I need to know if the rack and pinion can be removed and installed without remove the front chassis. I looked at the FSM but I don't understand if the instruction are with or with out remove the front chassis.

2005
3.5 SE
A/T 5spd

No, you don't have to remove it. Remove the rack bracket bolts and lines, then slide out the steering rack. The difficult part is removing the steering lines connected to the rack.

I usually removed the rear subframe bolts and lowered the back of the subframe for a little more room and better access to the lines. That said, I have a fully-equipped shop to work in with vehicle lifts and tree-jacks.
