Default 05 Altima

Hi:
I have the chance to buy an Altima 05 from my friend's daughters.
The car is not running, it has a bad engine, also it is in a great shape.
He will sell it to me in 600 to 700 dollars. I'm thinking to buy it and install a used engine with around 60000 miles, the cost to buy it will be around 1200.
My question is should I buy it and fix the car?
Thanks.

sounds like a good deal, if the engine is the only thing bad on it.

Thank you
As far as I know that is the only thing wrong with the car.
I have one more question, does anybody try/install engines imported from Japan?
Thanks for the help

JDM, or Japan Domestic Market, engines are pretty popular. Due to the strict emission laws in Japan, engines are replaced with relatively low mileage (typically 60,000 miles or less) despite there being nothing really wrong with them. A lot of times you'll get them and find the harness and accessories (alternator, P/S pump, etc.) still attached to them. You need to check them over real good as there may be some emission control differences then what you are replacing, but worse case scenario, that simply involves swapping the intake manifolds.

Thank you, your comment will help me a lot. Now I need to make the deal with my friend and start to work.
BTW, any idea of how much can be the cost to swap the engines?
Thanks again
