Default shift lock issue, Test result.

hi guys, I'm having a hard time with my 2005 3.5se with the shift lever not locking-off when press the brake, need to insert the spare key.

By the Repair Manual, I perform some Tests.

1-Check continuity between the pins in the brake switch = OK

2-Detent switch for key, check continuity between pin 5-6 with the lever not in park = no continuity (manual say it should be)

3-Detent switch for shift lever, check continuity between pin 13-14 with the lever not in parking = no continuity (manual say it should be)

This mean I have a bad Shift lock control unit, M31 behind the cluster?

Thanks in Advance
Carlos

well, To hours ago I need to going out and the car shift from parking normal by press the brake. Made a few things in which I turn the car off/on and shift from parking to reverse and drive normal.

What can cause this intermittent fail? This is not the first time it do this.

thanks
Carlos

I think there was a tsb for that . It was for the shift lock control unit. I believe there was an updated part.
