No Starter Signal Voltage
Have a 2002 Altima 2.5L 4 cylinder that cranks but has trouble starting. I have replaced the crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, all ignition coils, spark plugs, and relays. I had drained the radiator and filled it up with coolant which the overflow ran dry twice. Any suggestions?

Did you try measure voltage at the Starter terminal? If so, you should get 12v, if not there's a fault between the Pos. + battery post to the starter like fuseable link, fuse, broken wire/corroded wire and signal wire/circuit from ignition switch or ignition switch.

I have 12 volts. I was wrong about the starter signal voltage. I still can't seem to find the cause of why it will not start.

2. when cranking, is security light stays on or does it go off. it should go off when cranking. 3. when you turn key to On, do you hear a buzzing sound. that's your fuel pump powered up. if you don't hear the sound, fuel pump could be suspect. 4. double check your work specially the crank/camshaft sensors to be sure they are properly seated and harness connectors are tight. 5. with numerous cranking, ECM may have put car in lockdown mode. disconnect the neg. battery cable for at least 20 minutes. reconnect the cable and try a re-start. do the above first and let us know the results. |

Check Engine Light not on.
All lights go out when cranking. Double checked worked and everything is good. Fuel pump is good. It seems to want to start but acts as if something isn't catching or doesn't want to keep going. There is also a sweaking noise at the end when i finish trying to start it. I pulled the fuel injectors and they are working proplerly. The code that i have gotten before is P0300 random misfire. |

1. have someone step on the brake while you go in the back and see if brake lights are working. if its working continue troubleshooting,
2. have your starter tested. 3. don't forget to jump start and give us feedback on the above. |
