Default 2013 USB/Bluetooth causes screen blanking

I just bought a new 2013 Altima 3.5 SL. Connected my ipod classic through usb and randomly every few minutes or so it blacks out the center console display and comes back. The music never stops but it is clearly a sw bug. It also happens with my ipod touch connected via bluetooth but at a much lower rate. I tried just running XM and FM etc without this issue so I dont think it is a loose wire.

Anyone else having this problem? It ook it to the dealer and the mechanic told me my ipod is probably not compatible lol. i mean they advertise ipod compatibility and it happens with a new ipod touch and a 2 year old ipod classic over either usb or bluetooth.

lemon law?

Default Screen blankout

I have a 2013 SL with tech package. I live out in the country but I have noted even in town that the screen will blank (black) out for 2-4 seconds. It's not regular but it happens more often than simply random or crossing satellite zones. Also happens with just the radio. I don't feel like it happened in the first 500 miles but it has been since. It's enough that it's irritating and the reason that I came to this forum. I haven't yet been back to the dealer so I haven't run it by them yet. Will report back when I do.

OK-- This is the very latest. I dropped off my 2013 Altima sedan 2.5 SL with Nav package at the dealer today (1/25/13). They confirmed the screen blanking problem and spoke with Nissan tech line (which has to confirm the problem and go through steps with the repair technician before authorizing AV replacement). Nissan is aware of this problem and has isolated it to a software, not hardware defect. They are working right now on a software update/reflash and are not presently authorizing hardware replacements. They did not give a specific time period but I assume it will be fairly soon.

I'm glad that, hopefully, a simple reflash will fix the problem and eliminate the need to take the dashboard apart in a brand new car.

Default Screen blanking update

Interesting. I have been to the dealer twice on this issue. First time, felt like I got blown off. They couldn't replicate the problem (all one had to do was drive around) and therefore couldn't fix it. I then filled out a new car survey and was contacted by Smyrna. They told me there was a fix and to go back in and direct service to the repair bulletin. Did that and still no fix. Have a (future) son-in-law who works as an upper manager at Nissan (not on the Altima team) who went to his warranty specialist who also confirmed a future fix. In the meantime, I believe my dealer IS going to put in a new unit. At least that's what they told me. More to come. Remains frustrating as I waited to buy the Altima until the tech packages were out there and then to run into this. Couldn't recommend the vehicle right now although everything else, including gas mileage, seems good.
