Default 03 2.5 Altima misfire, oil in spark plug tube.

I have been having some misfire. I removed one of the coils and there is some oil on the outside of the rubber as well as inside the coil. I figured this meant I need to change the valve cover. However, I see that the valve cover does not have spark plug tube seals...

How do I change the spark plug tube seals? Replacement parts?

I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to, but what you probably need is the valve cover assembly. The valve cover comes with the seals that stops the oil getting in the spark plugs holes.

Sorry for not being clear. I removed the black coil pack with the boot attached. There is oil on the outside of the boot the houses the coil. There is also some oil inside of the boot. hen I take the coil apart there is oil inside. Is it possible to get the seals without buying an all new cover?

Unfortunately you can't, the seals are part of the valve cover.

Could it have something to do with the spark plug tube? Part # 11095?

The valve cover comes with the spark plug tube gasket installed, the gasket is not sold separately.

Oil in the tube means the spark plug gasket is leaking. Oil around the spark plug could alter the temperature of the plug and cause it to misfire.

I think I priced that locally under $100 for the assembly, your pricing may vary.

I had the same problem. Just replaced mine. Unfortunately, you do have to replace the whole valve cover. It cost me $150 at local dealer.

Here is how it's done on 2002 - 2006 Altima:

My advice also is to swap coil packs with another cylinder to make sure that coil isn't bad as well. The code will follow the pack if it's bad. You could try to put some rtv silicone around the top of the tube. If you look you can see the gasket around the top of the tube. I would recommend replacing the valve cover but IF YOU HAD TO you could try the rtv as a band-aid.
Another thing is you have had it misfire a bunch of times, the unburned fuel can damage your cat which in turn could cause material from the cat to be sucked back into the engine thru the exhaust valve and your engine will self destruct. So have your cat checked out and keep an eye out for a p0420 code. I only say this from experience with my 2004 altima 2.5s that is now having major issues that started with misfires.

You probably need a new valve cover.

Hello there and thanks in advance,

Recently my mechanic change the valve cover gasket and he didn’t mention that I need to change the whole valve cover . Thanks to all the online help I decided to do it on my own but I made a big mistake

There was a lot of oil in all the spark plugs well . I cleaned a little bit but then I took the spot plugs out Without realizing that the oil really get into the cylinder .

Can anybody tell me what should I do should I try to take a paper napkin and try to clean the cylinder or what should I do thank you for your help

If you don't change the valve covers, all the oil in the spark plug hole will eventually deteriorate the ignition coil boot and make the engine run rough

A little oil entering the cylinder isn't going to hurt anything. You could put a rag over the hole and have someone crank the engine and the compression will blow the oil out of it.
