Default Thermostat 06 altima 4cyl

hope someone can help. My sons 2006 4cyl altima is running hot, i would like to change the thermostat first. Does anyone have the procedure for changing the thermostat.

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Disconnect lower radiator hose at the t-stat housing water inlet. Have a bucket underneath to catch some coolant. Also a towel for dripping coolant. Tie a twine at end of hose so hose in upright position.
3. Loosen the 12mm mounting bolt and remove t-stat housing.
4. Install new T-stat. Position the jiggle pin at 12 oclock.
5. I used Gates T-Stat 82 degree 180F with gasket.
6. Folllow manual for tightening torque or about 37 ft.-lb. Reinstall radiator hose. About 10-15 minutes. Hope this helps.

Thanks bennyb53, i changed it last night, i also changed the water control valve 5 bolts for that one. temperture gauge is steady just below middle and radiator hose is hard with flow of antifreeze. thanks for your response.
