I'll check Advance, but yes Amazon was the cheapest. I have a regular account with them and I would go with the Super Saver shipping for free. I believe there's a charge to be a Prime Member, and I don't order there often enough to justify that....I find that they still come in a reasonable time frame with the SS through Amazon.
They said about a week on my brakes for my Pontiac G6 and I got them in 4 days. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks again. |

I checked the car for codes and I get a code of P0507. My scanner shows there are two codes, but when I cycle through them, I get P0507 for both of the codes that are there.....
I believe the dealer did not do the idle relearn after ECM program if I was a betting man.....(it was in there for the R0712 campaign on 1/13/12). Would the procedure of stepping on the throttle and releasing (as shown in other posts on this forum) solve this issue, or should it go back to the dealer for correction? I will naturally point out that they have a bulletin that explains that the failure to do the relearn procedure will set the code. Thanks again. |

Set up an appointment with the dealer that did the recall work on 1/13/12 with the message that they will need to do the idle relearn to clear the P0507 with the Consult..and at no charge.
Didn't have this DTC before the reprogram and the more I read, it seems that the relearn was not done (and should have been). I'll let everyone know how I make out.... |

It's at the dealer this morning. Right away, they stated, "that's not part of the recall". When I told the service writer, "Nissan says it is...look up campaign #R0712....", he got a bit snippy about that and told me that I must have been reading an aftermarket bulletin....
Shame, shame. #1: I got the bulletin from this forum and it even has the Nissan logo, so I explained to him, more official than that you're not going to get, and #2, even it if WAS an "aftermarket" bulletin from Mitchell, Alldata and others, they are DIRECT copies of the OEM bulletins (as those companies have the right to reproduce the bulletins from the OEMs). When I asked if the IAVL procedure was done with the R0712, I got again, "it's not part of that recall". Yet, it clearly states in the bulletin (I'm looking at it as I type this) that it IS for 2002 models. What gives with these people? Looks like it's time to educate someone.....LOL..... |

Seriously though, these 'service advisers' seem to be working for a paycheck and probably a bonus on total revenue. Nissan makes zero off the recall work. It does pay to have the supporting paperwork/documents to help with your case. Best of luck

OMG: An educated consumer who happens do to all his own work AND is an ASE Certified Parts Specialist (who worked in the parts industry for 11 years). Does that make me know everything? Of course not...
Maybe more than the average consumer? Perhaps. If nothing else, a more read or learned one....Again, no one knows everything (we all make mistakes and have a bad day), but when you give me a 'tude when I call you out, I know you're full of it ;). Follow-Up
I received a call from the service dept at the dealer. I was told, "Yes, you are indeed correct, that IAVL is part of the recall and campaign. I had never heard of an incomplete recal before...you were right".
He then stated, "the tech told me that he did the IAVL the first time (yet the service writer told me he had never heard if it being part of the recall this morning, and that I was not correct) and he did the IAVL again. If the code returns, you may have a throttle body problem". (Of course, I will do the work myself if this is the case). It seems that perhaps it was forgotten the first time and had I not pressed the issue, it wouldn't have been done (or they would have tried to charge for it) at all. I just find it odd that it was "redone" this time. What do you all think? Thanks. |
