What Type of Manual Transmission Fluid
Hey guys, I am due for transmission oil change after 90k miles on my 02 Altima 2.5L with manual transmission. This will be my first.
Your input as to what brand, weight, or rating, etc. that you are using now or have used in the past is much appreciated. |

Thanks cobradb. The maintenance manual specs are GL-4 and 75w-90.
After considerable reading, I have decided on Redline MT-90. It's not cheap but comparable with Amsoil, Mobil 1,. Our local O'Reilly Store has their brand at $10. I ordered at Amazon for $13.49/qt. including shipping. Amsoil prob will work also and Mobil 1 is GL-5 grade. I've read the Study on Gear Lubricants funded by Amsoil but conducted by an independent Lab. Most owners have said not to use GL-5 when GL-4 is recommended in service manual as it contains different additives. Thanks again. |
