Default Failed smog....Horribly...

So I went to smog the Altima today and failed pretty damn bad. I passed everything but the "NO (PPM)" section of the emission test. So in the 15mph part, the max NO is 443....I got 4389....Yes, 4389... For the 25mph part, max is 730..I got 3226... Soooooo I have no clue why it failed, especially THIS bad. The only things I have changed from this smog test, compared to the one I took two years ago, would be the intake manifold gasket. Could maybe me hooking up the lines wrong when doing that job cause such a high number of NO? I really can't think of anything else... help?

Do you mean NOx (Oxides of Nitrogen)? That's usually indicative of a hot running engine issue. I know that when I've done/seen inspections in the summer, they would be higher in the hotter weather.

What state is this? Sounds like a dyno test. We had those here in NY, they got rid of them in December 2010 for anything older than 1996 (1996 and up is a plug in OBDII test).
