Clicking noise (single click) when brake pedal is pressed
I've had my 2010 Altima 3.5sr for about 3 weeks now and today I noticed that every time I press the brake pedal I hear a clicking sound (one single click every time I press it). I am very anal about noises and rattles and I know I would have noticed this earlier. I noticed that when the brake pedal is fully depressed it rests on a white button. It sounds like it could be coming from that??? Anyone?

Hi deeselcyde,
I have the same exact problem as you. I just called nissan customer care. We should stay in contact in case one of us solves the problem. I know you replied to a similiar thread on the nissanclub forums. I'll pm you my email address |

The dealership put grease/wd-40 on the white plunger button and the noise it gone. Simple enough.
Over time, if the noise comes back we're just going to have to grease it up. I looked at a brand new car on the lot and it made the same clicking sound. |

It could be your shifter's solenoid just clicking to tell you that you can take your car out of Park. Check and see if it only makes the noise when the gear is in P position.

No, it is the brake light switch. I had an older Altima (can't remember which one) that did the same thing. It went away on its own after a while.
