Altima TPMS programming
One of my TPMS broke. I bought the new TPMS but do not know how to program the unit so that it can recognize by the car's computer.
Can someone guide me? Thanks, Last edited by ship3003; 07-08-2010 at 11:59 AM. |

You are going to need a special tool to program the sensor. You need either the nissan scan tool or an aftermarket programming tool. Both are pretty expensive. It would be cheaper to have a shop do it for you.

Thanks for quick REPLY ...
It is strange that I had to spend $150 for a $110 tire |

Pure BS!
Sorry for reviving an old thread, but this tpms is pure bs! I wonder how many people are actually going to go through the hassle of repairing theirs once they start to go bad.
I have one bad sensor, which I believe may have been damaged during a flat repair (before I knew anything about how tpms works). Dealer wants $180 to replace sensor and reprogram ecu. Not going to happen, so I'm looking for alternatives to get it fixed. I can find a replacement for about $50, but have no way to reprogram the car to recognize it. Anyone know of a place in north Dallas that can do this? Or just for my curiosity, what kind of luck are you guys having finding someone to take care of this other than Nissan service? |

Most probably already know this, but Discount Tire will service tpms systems. Their website didn't indicate that they actually supply sensors, but the local store replaced my defective one for $60. My local Nissan service dept. wanted $110 for the sensor and $58 to program the ecu. Cheapest replacement sensor that I could find online was $52, so a very good deal from DT considering the needed program.

After my battery went dead and was replaced on our 2009 we have the same issue. Bad thing is I have just over 49,000 miles on the car so it's out of warranty. At this point it's just an annoyance.

Seriously? We have to deal with this annoyance when we replace our battery? That seems really stupid to me. Really surprised the serial numbers aren't stored permanently like other sensor information.
