Default 06 altima 2.5L gas smell through vents

I recently bought 06 Altima 2.5S. I noticed that strong gas smell is coming through vents. when I checked under the hood there's no traces of gas leak or gas odor. Is anyone else having this problem. Please let me know if anyone have any solution to this problem.

Is not a common problem, I haven't seen any 2006 Altimas with leaking hoses. My only suggestion is to pressure test the fuel system to check for leaks.

Have you over filled the gas tank. If you have than the evaporative is flooded with fuel. Remove the evap hose at your evap cannister and see if raw fuel drops.

Default Fuel hoses and evap is fine

I disconnected all lines to evap and everything is fine. Also there's no smell underneath the hood it only comes through vents with fan on and it stops when i switch to inside circulation, so it's definitely coming from outside source. Funny thing is check engine light is not on or any pending codes stored.

If you only have a smell when the fan is turned on and there is no smell outside or around the vehicle there must be something potent inside the vehicle replace the in cabin air filter and see if it disappears.

Default Replaced cabin air filter today.

I just replaced the cabin air filter today and smell didn't go away. I was doing a research on google if other owners are having same problems and I found few at edmunds.com but no one has or found any solution.

I do not have a solution for you. If no leaks are found, and the in cabin filter is replaced I have no other suggestions. Unless you have a slight exhaust leak and that is what you are smelling. Other than that do you have leather interior? try spraying sone deodorizer on the in cabin filter see if it helps. I will keep search for a fix for you?

Default Gas Fumes

My GF had a similar problem. It turned out to be the seal where the Gas fill tube meets the gas tank.

I want to thank you guys for sharing your opinion. This is very helpful. Dealers want to change all the fuel lines and injector o-rings and quoted over $1200. They jump to conclusion instead of further diagnostics. I really appreciated sharing your opinions. Thanks again.

I have a 2006 Sentra, 1.8 liter and have to try two to three times to start car and have a gas smell through the vents and no enigine light on. Is it something with Nissans and the fuel systems? Is there a recall?
