Default Replace radio 98 Altima

Can someone tell me how to remove the factory radio from my 1998 Altima? I have a short in the volume control and need to replace it. Thank you.

Until a Specialist pipes in - I found this on the net...

OK... I replaced the stock radio/CD. It is actually pretty easy. Here are the steps for anyone else who needs to replace their radio/CD in a 98 Alitima GLE.

1. Disconnect the battery ground.
2. Remove the cover plate around the AT shifter. This is easily done by just pulling up the cover by its inside lip. It'll pop right out. This will expose the two lower screws that hold the lower radio face plate.
3. Remove the ash tray and remove the two screws holding the slide in place. Don't need to remove slide just insure the screws are removed.
4. Remove the upper radio face plate screws that are just under the heater slider bar.
5. Pull the radio face plate out. You may need to press the spring clip for the cigarette lighter if you feel some resistance.
6. Once the cover place is free, remove the cigarette lighter electric wire and the face cover can be moved out which will then expose the 4 screws that keep the radio in place.
7. Remove the four screws and pull the radio out a few inches. Unclip the radio harness by pressing in the single white tab on each block and then the antenna wire.
8. Since I installed the same unit installation was just the reverse of removing.

The whole job took 30 minutes.
