Unhappy 2009 Hybrid wont start

So I was driving down the highway when the car would now accelerate anymore, pulled it over and the car will not move. I looked up the problem and it looks like is somewhat common but there is no straight answer. I'm able to get 30 secs on EV mode by taking the negative cable off the 12V battery but thats about it, I read the code on the car and it reads U0100 so there is a lost of communication with the computer. The two major ways I read people fix it is replacing the 12V battery, and in some occasions that the ignition coil somehow creates this problem, So I will start with the battery and go from there, but does anyone know what causes the problem? I do not want to try 100 different things before taking it to a mechanic.

If the engine doesn't start you will have limited power because the high voltage battery can't charge. You should not drive the car if the engine won't run. It can damage the high voltage battery if the charge gets too low. You need to find out why the engine won't start first. Could be a bad fuel pump or a sensor issue causing the no start. I would start by checking fuel pressure .

It doesn't look like the engine even tries to turn or engage.

I suggest checking for codes with a scan tool that can access the hybrid system.

Made a video to show that it does. Changed the battery, coils, and plugs while I was on it but no change, also noticed the radiator fan turn on when I press the button even tho the engine is not on or even tries to turn on.

That is most likely stored in the ecm. We need to know what other codes are stored in the other systems on the vehicle
