Default 08 Altima hybrid not starting

I have a 2008 Nissan Altima hybrid. 144 thousand miles, Only after market installation is a remote started that was placed in Christmas 2014. No lights were on until this problem started.

I started my car via the remote started on Jan 19th, as it was very cold this Morning. I was able to drive my car to drop off my child at school, I left the car running as I went in. I started to head to continue my day to work, I had to press on my brakes really hard because of the person in front of me in which made the slip light come on but for a quick glimpse.

When I got on the highway and went to accelerate the car started to shake I immediately took my foot off the gas as it was strange this never happened before. I went to accelerate again and it started to continue to shake, and did not go that fast. I continued to drive(let the car coast on 60 mph) until the check engine light flashed on, I was able to get off the highway. Stop at a red light and proceed to locate a safe location. I was able to manage a 20 mph speed until all lights on the dashboard came on. I then pulled into the lot. The acceleration no longer worked.

I called my insurance company when I got to work thinking that it needed a jump. I had the gentleman attempt to jump start my car but it did not work.
I then had it towed to a Nissan Dealership.

Jan 21, I had called over to the mechanic to get information on my car, First he stated that my car was not showing any body codes and that the ECM fuse kept blowing out. He stated that he never seen this before and that he is not sure of the problem to fix the car.

Today Jan 25th, I called him to check if anything has changed. He informed me that the following codes did show up: U1000, D2562, C310, C259. Car still does not start, and everytime he goes to replace the fuse it blows. I informed him if he checked the brake switch, (as I seen other forums stated this was their issue of the car not starting) He stated that when they ressed on the brake light that it comes on, So the brake switch is good, The car battery and the hybrid battery are good as well. Yet they still do not know what they can do to get the car to start.

Now with me using google I did come upon something that stated to inspect the CAM sensor, disconnecting the ECM and try to start the car to see if this would blow the fuse. I am at a lost and with my car being at 144 thousand miles there are no warranties. I called over to Nissan consumer affairs to see if this has occurred before but they could not give me much information as each car is different.

My only option right now is to have them continue to diagnose my car, or bring to another Mechanic for a 2nd opinion. Other than that I have no car :( just like that...

Thank you for any insight/ hope/ information you can provide.

The dealership has the scan tool to make proper diagnostics. The U1000 is the real time CAN communication line. The other 3 trouble codes verify again with mechanic and get some explanations.

Issue: ECM fuse kept blowing during a start up? Not clear at what point the fuse blow. This condition obviously will result in no start condition. The hard braking incident you had might have something to do (or may be not) as according to you at highway speed you had a severe misfire (car shaking) and loss of power. Soon after car will not start.

For starter, have tech inspect the negative battery cable connection at chassis and engine. After that is the painstaking process of locating the short that causes the ECM fuse to blow. Some techs are better than others in doing diagnostics. Talk to service writer or manager if you can get 1 hour of diagnostics to try locate the short. One hour labor rate at dealerships varies from $110. - $130./hr. depending on location.

Default code clearification

So, the mechanic called me back to explain all of the code:

U1000:
D2562: low voltage path
C1310: HV System
C1259: HV System regenerate.

They will be running test again today to test the ECM

Fingers crossed ! Hoping to get my car back. Been a week ugh.

Default Car fixed

So the tech called me and started that the #3 coil, is the issue of all this, and that they will install a new one. I spoke to my father thinking the coil is the same as a spark plug but he said its not as I was going to pay to get all 4 repaired, But tech said to save my money as repairing the other 3 would not be necessary.

So happy that my car is drive-able.

Unsure how I could have prevented the problem but just happy the problem is solved. 1 week later :)

I hope that there will be a hybrid version of Altima 2016, cause the standard one is steep)))
