#2 does piston come out on 2002 model or stay inside?

#3. Tell us what sort of issues you are experiencing then we can tell you if it is the water pump.

The radiator was replaced not long ago, the air conditioning was not working so we bought stuff to add. The same night we drove the car, it acted like it was cutting out, once or twice. The next time it was driven it actually stalled while driving, pulled it over to the side of road, let it sit, then restarted & drove home. No water in car, leak not coming from hose, coming out by pan.

So are you having overheating problem? Replacing the water pump you don't have to mess with the piston. You can downloand the Cooling System loose leaf manual from here. The stalling suggests possible issue such as the camshaft sensor.

never had an issue with over heating, ran like a gem forever. New issue, new problem, not sure if it's air conditioner repair related? Seems weird the leak & water loss happened the same week? Thanks for your help.

Manuals are in Knowledgebase section at the top Menu Tab under Service Manuals. Browse thru your particular model and the manual. If manual is not available for your model year, browse thru other years until you find the manual as it should be similar. When you SUBSCRIBE you may request the manual from Administrator which cost less than buying an aftermarket manual like Haynes. It's also good to have Haynes. Also search on you tube for videos. good luck.
