No oil getting to VVT, dry
2006 Altima 3.5l driving and had to push peddle to floor to get out of the way. After that it throws code P0011. Replaced VVT 3 times and still throws code. Last time checked VVT had no oil present nor on the other 2 VVTs after checking them, too. Other VVT bank is working fine. Any ideas as to what happened would be appreciated. Oil pressure is fine, no other codes. Also, oil has been changed.

Obviously you likely have an oil passage obstructed. I'd be looking for where as if early enough it could also be blocking off major oil flow to the cam bearings on that side depending on how the oil circuit runs. There may be a restrictor somewhere in it, that would be a likely place to stop up.
If an oil pressure light only and no gauge you really cannot assume the pressure is fine. The lights trigger off at under 10 psi and no engine can live on only that. And even electric OP gauges are often way incorrect too. |
