Default intake timing valve code

If anyone has had any experience with this would appreciate hearing about it. I have a 2008 Altima coupe 3.5. In July 2011 the dreaded orange SES light came on and coded P0011, as a result dealership replaced bank 1 intake valve control solenoid under warranty. A few weeks ago it coded the same again (bank 1 again) however this time I'm told I'm past warranty and they have no 'warranty' on previous warranty parts/work done in July 2011! I really don't want to go through this on an annual basis and it seems odd it would need replaced again so soon. A few people have suggested maybe it’s an engine gunk issue causing it to code and I should have the engine ‘cleaned’ or switch to a synthetic oil like Castrol Edge which would help clean out the engine and perhaps solve the problem. Fact or Fiction? Any thoughts?
P.S. it's had frequent oil changes with quality oil, most done well ahead of schedule and is fed premium fuel (ouch!) and has 70,000 Km mainly highway.

Most times when you see a p0011 or p0021 it's due to low engine oil level (2qts)

Thank you. Oddly enough I had the oil changed while I had it in the dealership to get the code checked. -- Discussed that possibility with the service advisor at the time and they cleared the code and said we'll see what happens. It lit up and coded the same again about 3 days after. Oil level good, but I'll keep watching it.
