Nissan has identified that certain model year 2001-2002 Frontier and Xterra models and certain 2001 Altima models may experience unexpected or difficult operation of the windows. The primary cause is extended high temperature conditions affecting the window regulator system. These high temperature conditions generally occur in the states listed on
the next page of this bulletin. In these areas, Nissan has initiated a Voluntary Service Campaign to replace the affected window regulators with the improved design. In other areas where this incident in not expected to occur, Nissan is extending the warranty on the vehicles should a future repair be needed.

2000-2003 NISSAN XTERRA, FRONTIER; VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN REAR JACKING POINT OWNER’S MANUAL UPDATE
Nissan has identified the need to update Owner’s Manual information for the 2000 through 2003 Frontier and Xterra models related to the rear jacking points for vehicles equipped with 15” factory wheels. Vehicles equipped with 16” factory wheels are not affected.
Nissan is conducting a Service Campaign to update the affected pages in the Owner’s Manual.
Nissan has determined that on some 2001 model year Nissan Frontier and Xterra vehicles, there is a possibility that the fuel tank inlet shutter valve may not meet the sealing performance specification. Under certain conditions such as high ambient temperature and when winter grade gasoline is being sold, fuel may spill from the filler inlet as the tank is being filled. If this should occur in the presence of an external ignition source, a fire could
result. To prevent this condition from occurring, Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall Campaign to replace the fuel tank inlet shutter valve with a new one.
Nissan has determined that on some 2001-2003 model year four wheel drive Nissan Frontier and Xterra vehicles, there is a possibility that water may enter the rear axle housing due to inadequate sealing of the ABS sensor in the axle housing. This may result in corrosion and eventual failure of the wheel bearing. If this occurs, the wheel assembly could separate from the vehicle and result in loss of control of the vehicle and a crash. To prevent this condition from occurring, Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall Campaign to inspect the rear axle for water entry and replace any necessary parts. Also, the ABS sensor will be resealed to prevent water from entering.
