Default Bose Radio System

I have a friend who has a factory Bose stereo system in his 350Z with a 6 disc CD system. For some reason it refuses to play CDs at any position. If I remember correctly, he said it indicates "Check CD". He checked that the CDs are actually good. CD eject works fine.

Radio works fine.

Unfortunately the dealer said the repair would be $1000. He did claim that it was a fairly common failure. I figured if it was common, maybe someone has identified a fix.

Appreciate anyones help

yea they do tend to fail, i would suggest to just get an aftermarket one cause they are expensive even used ones.
