Default 1990 300ZX Twin Turbo

I am original owner of this 55K miles car. The air conditioner is blowing the 10A fuse for the A/C relay after 2-3 minutes of operation. Replaced the relay but is still blowing the fuse. I can't understand why the coil of the relay is blowing the fuse. Could the clutch be doing it? Clutch was replaced a number of years ago. The problem started after traveling for 5-6 hours in heavy rain with the A/C on. Not comfortable with having the dealer get into it. It's "on the clock" billing which an electrical problem can be costly if they're going to "look at it". Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Why would the compresor cause an electrical rather than a cooling problem. Would it be causing a higher load on the clutch then cause overload to the relay contacts/coil and the fuse to blow?

If in fact the ac compressor is bad the extra load could infact cause the relay to trip. If you are not willing to take the Z to a dealer the may i suggest a good ac shop to find the cause.By the way... I miss my 90Z...
