Default Better mileage...better performance?

Has anyone added a cold air intake and larger exhaust system to improve both? I live in a non emission testing state and could remove catalytic converters also for perhaps better breathing. Please comment on all. Thanks in advance. MTG

It might help performance a little, but I doubt you'll see any worthwhile gains in fuel mileage. As far as removing the converters, you'll have to install CEL eliminators to keep the ECM from triggering catalyst codes. Unfortunately, the VG33E is neither good on gas mileage or a good performer in its stock form in a 2-ton truck, but, it is durable and fairly easy to work on. It usually takes a quite a bit of work and some forced induction to get any significant performance out of them, but that will only decrease the fuel mileage.
