A dealer valve body is probably in the $1000 range and I wouldn't think about replacing it unless I was sure it was bad. Have you checked for signs of coolant and ATF cross contamination? Radiator cooler failures are very common on 05-08 Xterras/Pathfinders/Frontiers.

Why keep seeing valve bodies around 1000
The Valve body should be 300$ that's for all without assembly and unnecessary things stuck with it.

The valve body on the RE5... transmission also contains the TCM; they are sold as an assembly from Nissan. Even before they started putting the TCM with the valve body, valve body assemblies from Nissan were often $800 to $1100. Nissan parts that come from Japan are almost always ridiculously expensive.
