Default Xterra idle issues

My 03 Xterra will start fine if the engine is cold. The RPM's will sometimes run a little over 1000, but it runs fine. If i turn it on and the engine is hot, the RPM's go to about 600 rpm, then drop low. Today, after driving for about 30 minutes, i turned it off at a fast food place, the when i started it back up, the truck started fine, but then the idle stopped. I put the accelerator to the floor-nothing. To leave, I had to hit the accelerator as soon as I started it. Anybody have this problem before and can figure it out?

You should start by cleaning the throttle boy and adjusting the base idle.

You can find the information in the "Engine Control" section of the service manual. You can download the section free from here: Knowledgebase - 2003 Xterra - Nissanhelp.com Forums

Is there a specific RPM that it should idle at? The guy at Autozone read P0505 when he plugged it up, and said that the computer might be reading the RPM either too high or too low.
