Default 2005 Xterra - p0430 and 0420 codes, HELP!?

HI, new to the forums. Did a little searching and found some limited help, but just need some direction for my case.

2005 Xterra, 155,500 miles. SES light has been on for a very long time, and now it's time past time for inspection. We have emissions in TX and know it won't pass because of the codes. That's my only concern, is that I make sure the codes are long gone, so I can get my sticker!!! Codes have been cleared several times, but always come back on within 30-60 miles or so...

It's running fine, no odor, no noticable loss of power. I checked around, and was told by a pretty reputable muffler shop in the area that IF it is the CATs, I'd have to supply dealer CATs for them to put in, because after markets don't work well with the computer, and they have seen the lights come right back on. Dealer CATs are about $900 each! Not an option for me because of value of car, nowhere near under warranty, etc.
IS THIS BS or true?

I'm not very mechanically inclined, but can do basic repairs. With the car running fine as far as I can tell, should I be thinking it might not be the CATs? How hard are the O2 sensors to get to? Are they easy to test? How?

What direction should I go? Maybe, junk yard CATs?? Are they easy to get off? I have no idea HELP!!!

Thanks for the advice! -Eric

It is most likely the cats. I have used aftermarket cats a few times and they have been fine so far. They run around $250.00 - $350.00 each.
