Default 2003 xterra trans shift cable

het guys my 2003 xterra(auto trans) is really hard to shift from park and through the gears. he local cottman shop diagnosed it as the trans shift cable. im wondering if i should just replace it myself. how difficult is this to do? also which one of the service manuals would contain the instructions on replacing the cable? thanks alot

There is not shift cable on your Xterra. A hard shift could be caused by low or dirty transmission fluid. Before replacing any part, I suggest changing the fluid.

If the linkage is not bent the most likely cause is the shifter assy it's self other than the fluid being dirty.
