Question Engine Service light came on.

I took it, the 2001 nissan xterra 3.3L V6, to auto zone as soon as the engine service light came on and asked for the free diagnostic and instantly got some trouble codes. The codes as follow are p1126 and p0325. P1126 has some reference to a open, failed or short circuit to the throttle control motor relay. P0325 also lists that the knock sensor circuit is open, short, or failed. If anyone can offer their expertise and assit me in this delima it would be very helpful, and also at the same time offer some assistance that will benefit me for future complications.

The knock sensor code(p0325) is very common on this model. Many owners elect to relocate the knock sensor to get rid of the re-occuring problem. As for the p1126 code is a thermostat function code. If not overheating it most likely has failed in the open position. If the engine is overing heating then it has failed inthe closed opsition and that in itself could cause a knock sensor code.

So what would be my best course of action in this case?

ok, so my SES light is on and after kidravens post I thought, GREAT I will go to AutoZone and save myself the $100 to get it diagnosed. So I call AutoZone just to make sure and they tell me in "California" they don’t do the free diagnosis! CRAP. So anyways, thanks for the great info, sometimes Cali really sucks!

Here in Texas they also do a free diagnostic at O'Reilly auto parts. Maybe you may have better luck.
