Exclamation Dead Battery

I advertently left my door open over the week while on vacation and the battery died. My bad. However, now I can't even get the key mechanism to turn to unlock the steering wheel. I am using the mechanical key (my SL has the intelligent key fob).

I put the key all of the way in and while applying the brake, the lock mechanism does NOT turn. Am I just a moron today or am I missing something?

Thanks!
Ed

It will not turn with a dead battery. It is an electronic system. The ignition cylinder does not actually have tumblers in it. It reads the transponder in the key and electronically unlocks the ignition. You will need to jump it to get the ignition unlocked. It should have a shift lock release on the shifter area that will allow you to put it in neutral if you need to push it out of a garage.

Thanks. I will try that. If all else fails, there is always the Roadside Assistance I paid for.
