Default red key ligth flasing

We've purchase a 2009 Versa H/B no owners manual, we had this car for 31/2 weeks and just today a red ligth (car with a key in the middle) started flashing, the key is out of ignition, all doors locked and the ligth is still on, I did try by disconecting the - on battery for 10 min. And no luck.
Any advise will be truly appreciated.

That is normal. It's the security light.

Thanks mpe235, The only thing that is bugging me is that you can still open
windows while this red ligth blinks and the key is out of switch, I can hear two relays (when pulling key out)closing meaning the system is off, it's my wifes car I've only driven it a few miles myself, and it's our first Nissan. Thanks.

A timer keeps the windows motors powered for a little while after removing the key allowing the driver to close the windows before exiting the car. Try waiting a minute or so and see if the windows still work - they should not.

Thanks Fancesco, I will do as soon as my wife comes from work. I see on your signature you own a Versa as well, does that little car w/ a key in the middle remains flashing when the key is out of the switch on your Versa? I had to ask cause
just started to do that on Friday.
Thanks.

I have a 2008 Versa and that is how they work. Once armed, the little red light blinks without stop till the battery runs down in a couple/few months. You can download a users manual for your car at:

Yes, my red car symbol with a key in the middle located on the bottom of the center gauge does blink once the ignition key is removed. It is the "Security Indicator Light." In my manual it is shown on page 2-6.
