Default diff lock light flashing

2004 Titan when engaging diff lock light flashes. Initially diff lock solenoid open circuit. Replaced diff. Lasted for 2 weeks and diff light flashing again. terminal 12 showed 12.volts when on and 4.0 volts when off. Terminal 11, .57V when on and Batt volts when off. Found a bunch of wires just before the rear wheel the where overheated but not exposed. Separated the wires and no difference. I am going to replace the damaged wires but if anyone has any other suggestions would be great.

I never had that problem before but based on the information you have provided:

sounds like the "Differential Lock Control Unit" is not grounding the solenoid. Start by repairing the wires, as you suggested, and then check the ground. Poor ground can also be the cause of the overheated wires.

Were the wires just above the exhaust? Is your tail pipe missing?

it is that area but no the exhaust is there. it is at the branch where it carries across to the drivers side and travels straight on back to the rear on the right side. it is just before and just after the branch off

I have a 2wd 2005 Nismo KC and cannot engage my E-locker. When I hit the switch on the dash the diff lock light just flashes and never turns solid. From my owners manual my truck must be in 4-lo to engage the locker. My truck is a 2wd. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
