I am having the exact sysmtoms on a Sentra with a knob driven mechanism. I think it is electro-mechanical. Any ideas for this fix? I rate myself 4 out of 5 wrenches. Thanks in advance!

I did this a while ago, but the plastic that holds down one of the cables that opens/closes the vents came loose. I took the metal retainer off of the broken main assembly and used a nylon wire tie to hold the cable down and allow the vent to activate.

The seals come off of the mode doors and leaves the glue exposed that used to hold it on. It causes the door to get glued in place.

Question How to Access--2005 Sentra

Any suggetions on how to gain access to the possible problem areas? I had a few minutes last night to pull things out around the glove box area on my 2005 Sentra and can't see much from that side.

I do have a nasty in-cabin filter which I can easily replace right now...

I'm thinking of taking the knobs off of the temp., fan, and vent controls and try pulling the plastic cover plate straight back to remove?

My air is blowing almost entirely out of the floor vents at any setting.

Default Fixed it...for now 2005 Sentra Air Vent Control

The metal clip that holds the control cable in place on the the control unit (plastic box with air control selector knobs and defroster, a/c, and recirc buttons) came loose because the plastic broke around the hole where the clip snaps in. I used a cable tie to strap the clip back down after positioning the cable back where it fits in on the bottom side of the control unit.

The initial step to access this was to pry out the plastic part on top of the center of the dash. This is the cluster that holds the storage box and has the emergency flasher switch and the 2 upper air vents. Then start removing screws to take the radio and 6-CD changer out. More screws to take control unit loose (after releasing cables from radio to clear it).

It's not real difficult to access after determining where to start.
