Exclamation 2005 Sentra Vent Control Valve

So I posted about a week ago under another forum about my problems with filling my tank. In short: Everytime I pump gas into the tank, after a gallon or so it spews back out. After reading around and getting my car scanned for the code it came up P1446. I see around that this is the code when either your vent control valve goes bad or when the related pressure sensor goes bad. I assumed it was the valve because of it not releasing the gases when I fill it, and it not just being the check engine light with no problems fueling. So I find the valve and remove it from the canister. To me it looks pretty dingy inside of the valve. Unfortunately I don't have anything 12v to test the valve itself to see if its in proper order. I call the dealer, they say the part is $103. I'm ok with this, but before I go buy the part and replace it. Is there anything else I should check before I throw it on, and a few months down the road its ruined again because of another problem I didn't know about. Here are a few pics of the valve:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Cody

There is really nothing you can do to prevent these valves from failing. I can help you out on the price. I can get you one for $60.00. The part # is 14935-AM60A. I will ship it to you for free.

Well while I appreciate your offer and will more than likely take you up on it. What I was really wondering is if something else that's broken on the car might potentialy cause this.

For example some people say that if you see charcoal in the valve its a sign of a bad canister and it should be replaced. I was just wondering if there was anything else I should look for as well.

On a side note, How would we go about setting this up, where would you take payment through. Paypal by chance? Let me know, and thank you very much for the offer.

There really isn't anything on the car that causes this. The valves themselves are the problem. Nissan has had problems with these since they started using them. It is true if you see charcoal leaking out of the canister that you should replace it. I have replaced hundreds of these on the sentras with this style valve and have never had to replace the canister.
If you are interested we can set up through paypal. Just pm me and I will send you the info.

Concure with mpe235. I to have replaced many vent control valves without the canisters being bad. To bad after all these years Nissan had continued to use this style of valve.Sinse you went so far as to pull the valve ,make two jumper wires and connect to your car battery and carefully apply voltage to see if the valve works.

Hello. Where on the car is this vent or control valve located?
I have a friend that has the same problem on a 2004 Nissan sentra.

Thanks!

The vent valve is attached to the evap canister. It is located between the left rear wheel and the rear bumper.
