Last week my brother in law swapped motors (bad 1.8 for a good one) and now he cant get the motor to start. When he cranks it over it sounds like it wants to start but just wont quite catch. Good spark at all 4 spark plugs, 45 pounds of fuel pressure with key on, light buld in the injector connections lights up when the car is turned over Car drove to where the motor was changed and he used the wiring harness that was in the car. Tried to put a couple different code readers on and there seems to be no power at the DLC. Rechecked all the grounds and unplugged and plugged back in all connetors, all fuses are good. Boy that anger management class sure helped. He needs some help, business went belly up, behind in taxes, and every other payment that he has so he cant afford to take this to a shop. And on top of all that his 17 year old daughter is nagging the heck out of him about her car. Any and all help is welcome, sorry about long post.

Turn the key on and see if the check engine light comes on during the bulb check. If it does not then you probably have a broken wire for the ecm relay. The wire is white with a blue stripe. Usually you can find the break close to the battery. Follow the harness coming out of the underhood fuse box to where is goes down the drivers side of the car. You will find a part of the harness that goes inside a white plastic enclosure that is covered in electrical tape. Cut the tape and open it up there. Look for the white/blue wire. Usually the break is real close to the splice in the wire. The splice is taped with yellow tape.

What should be the next step if the light does not come on? I think it was on last time we tried starting the car. We will be going back to work on the car when a new P/N safety switch comes in, that got broke during the swap and was giving us problems with the car not even turning over. Someone had to hold it just right then the car would crank.

Well got the scanner to read codes and alls that came up was an o2 sensor code. Can get the car to start with a squirt of gas safe ether but dies right back out again. Fuel pressure is 45 lbs at the engine bay. Which metal tube does the pressure line go on? The one towards the firewall or the one towards the front of the car? We know that the injectors are firing because we put a small marker light bulb in the wire harness and it would light up when the car was turned over. So would I be correct in saying the injectors are no good?
