crankshaft pulley removal

PLease help... how do you keep the crankshaft pulley from moving while you are trying to remove the bolt?

In the shop we would use an impact wrench. If you are trying to repair it at home you could try leaving the belts on and use another wrench to hold the nut on the alternator pulley, this should give you enough holding strength to loosen the crankshaft bolt.

a strap wrench may also work. tou can get one at most parts stores.

a screw driver jambed between the teeth of the flywheel will also not let the crank turn.

yep the old screw driver in the teeth. lol. but be carefull when doing this i have had stitches put in due to the screw driver sliping and the side of my hand hitting the belhousing.

no your ok man. sounds like you have a lot of hard learned experience. nothing beats experience. i still use the screw driver idea at times but now nissan supplies use with tools that fit against the flywheels without holding onto them.
