2005 Sentra 1.8 random misfire
Got a 2005 Sentra 1.8 auto. It started to misfire occasionally. I can drive it for a month OK, then it will misfire for some time, then drive OK.
It displays P300 code, random misfire, although once or twice it also had P302, cyl 2 misfire. I replaced spark plugs, also swapped coils. Spark looks strong when I crank the engine. Also got a fuel pressure tester from Autozone, it showed 51 psi pressure, which is normal per Nissan manual. Replaced injector #2 with a new one. Cranked the engine with injector rail out, the spray looked OK on all 4. Tested compression on #2, that was OK as well. It's still misfiring randomly. Will do that under load or at idle. I've ran it on the freeway for 10 miles and it runs OK, then will misfire again. Will misfire at any temp, cold or warmed up. I tried tugging on wire harnesses for injector and plug, checking for bad connection, that did not make any difference. Does anyone have ideas on this? |

reply re possible head gasket leak
I've had a number of people suggest possible head gasket leak. I do have to add maybe half a pint of coolant once a month. But there is no water in oil, I check that almost weekly

I suggest you send for oil analysis to confirm oil and coolant have mixed. Just search oil analysis and choose the provider. I think the cost is reasonable around $30 compared to the more laborious leak down test. It's probably in the early stages so no visible sign in your engine oil.
