Default Fuel guage reads empty

The fuel gauge and fuel low idiot light still reads zero after checking fuel level sensor resistance, cable continuity. I followed the shop manual trouble shooting sequence to the point that it said to replace the combination meter. Then, purchased a used one from ebay and the ebay unit has the same problem. Or, the problem is somewhere else. The manual shows a routing through the "unified meter control unit". I can't find out if this is a separate unit or just another part of the combination meter. Any ideas?

Other possibility is Fuel Sending Unit. Read up on that.

Thanks, but I have been there. I've pulled the pump/sending unit and it has 4-80 ohms from full to empty range. Also checked the continuity of the wiring from the sending unit plug to the meter plug and ground at meter plug.

did you test the combination meter at the ecm terminal. sounds like you have the electrical manual to help you locate the ecm terminal #.

I'm not close to the manual at home. But, if I remember correctly, the terminal number is 44. That is the terminal that I used to check the continuity between the Meter unit terminal and the fuel gauge plug pin 2.

As far as checking the combination meter unit. I was able to run the diagnostic routine that moves all of the needles to the horizontal position and all needles worked OK.
