2000 sentra wont go over 20mph
I could use a little help. I have a 2000 sentra gxe. It wont go over 20 mph no matter how far we push pedal down. It rev's up is all. I stopped at autozone on my 20mph trip home and it came up with 3 codes. P0420, P0455, and P1448. From reading and research i cant pin point what to fix. I was hoping to be able to do the work myself. Please help\advise.

I would start with the p0420 code. It the catalytic converter is plugged it will not allow the engine the increase rpm.

Thank you for response. How do i determine if catalytic converter is plugged and what are repair options. Can i have it cut out and replace with a piece of pipe. If so will it still pass emissions test in illinois. My neighbor thought there was problem with converter also and said i could cut out converter.

You will have to replace the converter. To check it remove the front exhaust pipe and see if the bottom of the converter is melted inside. If it is then the parts are probably blocking the exhaust flow through the front pipe. |
